About Spinal Disc Decompression
Intervertebral disc problems are one of the primary causes of back and neck pain. The discs are prone to decay and injury as they are compressed and twisted through normal daily activities. Sometimes even mild torsion can be traumatic and damage these spinal discs through that the disc cannot tolerate.
As the disc degenerates, the gel-like nucleus loses its hydration (dry-out), reducing disc height and creating stress on the joints of the spine and shrinking the space for nerves exiting the spinal cord. Also, disc degeneration (decay)causes the pliable outer ring-like layers of the disc to become brittle and susceptible to cracks and tears that can lead to disc herniations. Bulging or herniated discs often press directly on spinal nerves, causing severe pain, tingling, numbness, weakness and/or even paralysis.
